The Best Songs by Muse
Muse, A Brief Description
Muse is a British alternative rock band that incorporates and often fuses electronic, classical, and hard rock into their music. Muse consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Matthew (Matt) Bellamy, bassist Christopher (Chris) Wolstenholme, and drummer Dominic (Dom) Howard. This band from Teignmouth, Devon, England originally formed in 1994. Their albums include Showbiz, Origin of Symmetry, Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, The Resistance, HAARP, and Hullabaloo.
My Top 10 Muse Songs
Although this wasn't easy, here is the list I made of my top 10 favorite Muse songs.
# 10. Sing for Absolution
Sing for Absolution is from the album Absolution (which was probably needless to say) and is the fourth track on the CD. What really gets me into this song is simply the chorus. Whenever listening to Sing For Absolution I get this sudden impulse to sing, chant aloud, and belt out the chorus, although I choose not to because I would end up looking like a fool.
# 9. Bliss
Bliss is the second song on Origin of Symmetry, Muse's second debut album. This UK single has made it on the top 10 list because of it's obviously catchy melody and interesting lyrics. I doubt that Matthew Bellamy was implying the same meaning behind as the way I take it in, but for the way that I personally interpret Bliss, I feel as though I can relate.
# 8. Starlight
Starlight has to be one of Muse's most recognizable songs throughout the states. Starlight (off of Black Holes and Revelations) does stray from the typical musical style of Muse, but it's still a brilliant song. For me, Starlight gets me into a zone where I picture about love and romance.
# 7. Super Massive Black Hole
Super Massive Black Hole the third track from muse's CD Black Holes and Revelations is my #7 Muse tune just because of how extremely catchy it is. Lyrically, Super Massive Black Hole isn't anything special and perhaps a bit sub par compared to some of Matthew Bellamy's other work, but there's just no denying this dance masterpiece, Super Massive Black Hole of its creative sound.
# 6. Uprising
Uprising is the opening song to Muse's 2007 and latest album The Resistance. Uprising has found itself in the spot of number 6 for it's vibe of rebellion. Who just isn't instantly inspired by a song taking that classic rock n' roll stance of sticking it to the 'man' and standing up for what you believe in. "They will not force us, and we will be victorious!," is right.
# 5. Undisclosed Desires
Look, Undisclosed Desires is a soothingly sexy song, period. I think it's best to just leave it at that.
4. Exogenesis Parts 1 and 3
Many Musers may disagree with these Resistance tracks, but these classically based songs in my opinion atleast are beautiful. I must admit Exogenesis parts 1 and 2 really weren't something I fell in love with at first, but eventually I really began to appreciate them.
# 3. Take A Bow
Take A Bow, ohhh how I love Take A Bow! I must say that both the original album version from Black Holes and Revelations, and the live version from HAARP are both awesome. Take A Bow is one of the reason's I really began to start getting into Muse.
# 2. Stockholm Syndrome
For you Musers out there reading this, if Stockholm Syndrome 'isn't' in your top 10 of Muse, I'm asking that you please leave this page immediately. Stockholm Syndrome really has this completely hard rock thrill to it andespecially in the live versions. People who don't like this song are seriously messed up... Okay, maybe not, but still how does someone 'not' like Stockholm Syndrome?
#1. Showbiz
When it all comes down to it, Showbiz will always be my # 1 Muse song. The build up to the song is outstanding, the lyrics are outstanding, and that pure raw emotion puts Showbiz at the top of this list. My absolute favorite version though by far has to be Showbiz on Hullabaloo.
Well anyways, there's my top ten for ya. Have any comments, questions, input, or would like to give me your top 10 Muse songs, I'd love to hear it.
