A Brief Biography of U2
U2 is an Irish alternative rock band that first formed in Dublin back in 1976. This group consists of lead vocalist and lyricist Bono (Paul David Hewson), lead guitarist The Edge (David Howell Evans), bassist Adam Clayton, and drummer Larry Mullen Jr.
U2 have 12 main albums. These records include (in chronological order) Boy, October, War, The Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree, Rattle and Hum, Actune Baby, Zooropa, Pop, All That You Can't Leave Behind, How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb, and there newest studio release No Line On the Horizon.
U2 have had almost seemingly countless numbers of radio hits. Some of this band's singles include Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, With or Without You, Where The Streets Have No Name, New Years Day, I Will Follow, Vertigo, Get On Your Boots, Elevation, One, Desire, Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, Pride (In The Name of Love), and Angel of Harlem. It's needless to say U2 has a pretty hard track record to compete with, and they have to be up there when it comes to bands with the most hit singles.
U2 often have been arguably labeled as "The World's Number One Band," but they didn't receive such a title based simply just on radio songs. They've had to earn it to, by becoming an amazing live act, while going on plenty of world tours. U2's most recent tour (incase you haven't heard) is the "U2 360 Tour," which is notably famous for the enormously tall futuristic, orange object formally know as "The Claw." The Claw just shows that Bono and the band are still easily capable of managing to create an 'out of this world' live experience for their fans.
Not only are Bono, The Edge, Adam, and Larry great to thier fans, but they're heavily involved with charity aswell. Bono, especially has been involved with issues and awareness of problems such as world hunger and poverty. Bono has been so highly dedicated to helping those in need, that he even created the increasingly famous "One Campaign" and donates millions of his own earnings towards causes similar to The One Campaign.
Well deservingly, U2 will forever go forever down in Rock n' Roll history as an incredibly talented, creative, and generous band.
